PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP

IN THE SOUTH OF FRANCE

Starting 9th January 1999 I will be running a series of photo workshops from our complex in our village of NIZAS . in the heart of Languedoc.

The workshops are planned as a series of five day courses, each developing the disciplines of black and white photography based on the Zone System.

There will be three opening courses,

1 Foundation.  The essentials of the equipment, the negative and the print, visualisation
                            placement and calibration.  Film development and darkroom practice.

2 Intermediate.  Exposure and development techniques, basic lighting practice (studio and
                              outdoor), further darkroom skills and an introduction to the view camera.

3 Advanced.  Progressing darkroom skills, view camera techniques, portrait and landscape
                         photography.
 

Each workshop will be given by me, Tony Tidswell, I have worked in advertising and freelance photography for twenty years and have exhibited in London. Apart from the magnificent scenery, the climate, the food, the wine and the local ambiance, the quality of the light here is a dream for any photographer.

The maximum number of people on each course is eight so that in depth personal attention can be given.

The workshops will be serious work, but being near the Mediterranean and the mountains, time will be taken to show you round the region and to sample the local food and drink.

The workshops will run from Sunday to Thursday, the accommodation covers you from Saturday afternoon to the following Saturday morning so you can relax a little and use your new skills.

The camera format is not a problem, it is accepted that the 35mm format is the most popular and the workshops are designed to cater for this, however medium and large format (5" by 4") work will be covered in depth and the view camera introduced to help explain the Zone System and visualisation.

The charges for the workshops include all documentation and adequate film, paper and chemistry for the course.

Accommodation is provided in our apartments and is based on two people sharing a large double room.  If a single room is requested, or if students are accompanied by their partners there will be a surcharge, please ask.

Meals are included, this means a continental breakfast, lunch and a set evening meal, anyone with particular requirements or tastes, please ask.

Wine is unlimited and free, I don't live in the heart of the biggest wine district in the world for nothing.

You can, if you wish, book a longer holiday either before the course or after, our normal apartment or bed and breakfast rates apply  Holiday terms .

The fully inclusive price for the  January workshops,  accommodation, material, documentation and food is $825 per person for the week saturday to saturday (5 days of the workshop) this covers everything except your transport here.
